Saturday mornings in our house are pretty routine. Michael and Caden wake up at the crack of dawn and mom sleeps in. But last Saturday was a little different. I woke up at 7 a.m. and went downstairs to find my sweet little boy playing quietly at the kitchen table. I sat down next to him and said "Good morning sweetie...how are you?" He replied "Good" as usual. I start to walk away and I hear "Mom, I need to tell you something scary".
Ut oh. I sit back down.
"What's that honey?"
"Well...yesterday....when I was at school...Samantha's dad came up to me."
"When? While you were on the playground? After school?"
"After school...at the CDC."
"How come? What did he say?"
"I don't remember...nevermind."
"Caden, mommy needs to know what happened. You can tell me."
"Well, Samantha was being mean and making fun of me."
"And...."
"And I made fun of her back"
"What did Samantha say?"
"She said 'You're fat'
"And what did you say back to her?"
"I don't want to tell you"
"What did you say bubba?"
"I said 'Your mom's fat'
For the record, I had a much better poker face than my husband did when Caden and I told him the whole story at dinner. The shock factor got the best of him.

My Best Friend's Wedding

This year we spent Easter weekend with my family up in Lake Tahoe for my friend Sarah's wedding. Sarah's family and mine have been friends now for 20 some odd years, and although she moved to Texas, we've remained very close. The wedding was so intimate and special....and talk about the scenery! Michael and I both agreed that we could be mountain people...or at least small town people ; ) Doesn't everything seem to just s l o w down when you're outside of Orange County? It was so nice to just relax and spend time with my family. And then the dreaded question came..."Mom, when are we going to have our Easter egg hunt?" Crap. I forgot the eggs. How did I forget to pack Easter eggs? I know how much Caden LOVES this silly tradition. Luckily, Grandma has that "I can't stand to see anyone I love unhappy" gene (which, by the way, was conveniently missing when I was growing up) and Caden got his Easter egg hunt. Leave it to Grandma to save the day.
Congratulations again Mr. and Mrs. Gill!!! We love you and know that you are going to have a happy marriage.

Mr. and Mrs. Bair...At Last

Tomorrow will be one month of marriage for us!!!
So far so good ; )
It's crazy to think the wedding and honeymoon have already come and gone after so many months of planning. We both said we felt like it went by WAY too fast, and that we didn't get to spend enough time with everyone. Nevertheless, our wedding day was everything we'd ever wanted and more. We loved every second of it.
Thank you to all our family and friends who made it the most special day. We are extremely blessed to have you in our life.
The honeymoon was equally amazing. We stayed at the Aventura Spa Palace, an all-inclusive resort in Riveira Maya, Mexico. It was 7 days of pure relaxation. The only other things we did besides eat, sleep, and...well....was go on an ATV tour and swim with the dolphins. Minus the small phobia I have of fish, swimming with the dolphins was really cool. They are such sweet animals. The ATV tour was by far our favorite part of the trip. We took a 3 hour ride through the jungle, stopping along the way to see some cool animals, and then again to swim in a natural fresh water pool. Again, the fish phobia was a bit of a problem, but all in all it was a good time.
Now, it's back to reality. I think reality is my favorite part.
